The key to the problems that arise in missionary work lies in God\u2019s hand, not humanity\u2019s. The key isn\u2019t hard work or common sense. It isn\u2019t education or medical aid. It isn\u2019t even evangelizing. The key is prayer.<\/p>\n
\u201cPray ye therefore . . .\u201d<\/em> We are challenged by the difference between our human view of prayer and the Lord\u2019s. From our point of view, prayer is completely impractical and absurd. From our Lord\u2019s point of view, prayer is the only thing that makes sense. We say, \u201cIt\u2019s ridiculous to think that God is going to change things in answer to prayer!\u201d This is exactly what Jesus Christ says God will do.<\/p>\n \u201c. . . into his harvest.\u201d<\/em> Jesus Christ owns the harvest that is produced by distress and by conviction of sin. This is the harvest we must pray that laborers will be sent to reap. This harvest isn\u2019t located in a particular place; it isn\u2019t directed at certain people. There are no nations or tribes in Jesus Christ\u2019s outlook, only the world<\/em>. How many of us have learned to pray without respect to persons, only with respect to a person, Jesus Christ? Too often we lose sight of Jesus Christ, becoming distracted by our own agendas. People all around us are ripe to harvest, and we don\u2019t even notice; we just go on wasting our Lord\u2019s time in over-energized activities. Suppose a crisis of faith comes in your father\u2019s life, in your sister\u2019s life: Are you there as a laborer to reap the harvest for Jesus Christ? Or do you say, \u201cI have special work to do! I don\u2019t have time to deal with my brother.\u201d No Christian has special work to do. Christians are called to be Jesus Christ\u2019s own, disciples who don\u2019t dictate to their master.
